Jesus knows the hearts of man, and those before Him that day, so, a lot of times they would ask questions to discredit not only Him, but the Gospel He preached. A lot of people saw Him as a good teacher, a good leader, someone that gives them hope and truth, but the Messiah? Not many wanted to believe that, even till this day there are those who acknowledge the existence of Jesus but not His deity.
But those of us that follow Him, truly follow Him, Luke 9:23, He is our Messiah! Our Christ! It is not enough to acknowledge that He was here, but we have to acknowledge the Why and Who! He is the son of God! He came to save us! He was sent by God to deliver us from death, John 3:16-18. So, we need to reflect on what we know about Jesus, and make sure our understanding of Him is right, as Paul said in Acts 17:30, time for ignorance has passed.
One thing about the Jews in the time of Jesus, was that the savior they were expecting was to be a savior of the Jews only, a savior that would free them from the political reign of others, or save them through warfare, or save them in some great and fantastic way! And someone that might have been lesser than David as well, a mere son of David, great in His own right, but they would still stick to tradition and be someone that merely gave them what they wanted, they were not expecting Jesus at all.
But we know that the one who wrote it all, who inspired it all was God Himself through the Holy Spirit! 2 Timothy 3:16. Man cannot decide for or sway God, what God has planned can no man or spirit undo, He is God of all, Isaiah 43:11-13, Philippians 1:6.
Jesus is God, alongside His Father and the Holy Spirit, but God Himself gives glory to Christ! He, the Father, declares who His Son IS, Philippians 2:5-11, Colossians 1:19, Colossians 2:9-10.
So, we ought to understand that Jesus is Lord, even David himself admitted who He was, as Jesus quoted in v.36,
The LORD says to my Lord:
“Sit at My right hand
Until I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet.”
Psalm 110:1 (NASB95)
so, how can David be greater than Jesus? When even David humbled himself before the Lord. And Jesus best sums it up in v.37,
“David himself calls Him ‘Lord’; so in what sense is He his son?”
Jesus was born, Galatians 4:4, He lived, Luke 2:52, He died, Matthew 27:50. But Jesus rose from the dead as our conquering King, our Lord Christ, Romans 4:25. He took all sin on Himself so that we may be saved as long as we surrender to Him, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9-10. Jesus was the perfect substitute, the only one who could make intercession between us and God, as He was and Is 100% and 100% God, Colossians 2:9, He fulfilled His duty and appeased God's wrath for us, Romans 3:23-26.
Daily we must seek Christ, He is our stronghold, He is Lord of All, Psalm 119:89-97. He must be our focus, and we must endure it all until we reach our goal, Hebrews 12:1-3. So, stick with the Eternal God, not only remain in His word, but ask for His word to dwell in your heart, Psalm 119:9-12, so that when the day comes that the enemy seeks to kill you, you may be able to resist with the strength God provides for us to do His Will, Ephesians 6:10-18, James 4:7, Philippians 2:13. God will never fail us, He is faithful even when we are not, 1 Corinthians 10:13.
Christ Is Lord. From beginning to end, He Is, Revelation 22:13. Our Lord, our King, worthy of all praise and worship is He, so all the nations get together, and worship our Lord! Hebrews 1:1-4.
If you do not know this Lord we speak of, why don't you come and meet Him today? message me and we can have a conversation.
God Bless You All
